TGPRO New Energy Partners with HKUST to Advance AI-Driven Energy Solutions

TGPRO New Energy has announced a strategic partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) to establish the Energy AI Innovation Laboratory, combining world-class AI research with industrial expertise to accelerate the development of intelligent, low-carbon energy solutions.

The partnership will focus on applying artificial intelligence to carbon capture, energy management, and renewable energy optimisation, helping businesses improve operational efficiency, reduce emissions, and support the global transition to cleaner energy.

Combining Academic Excellence with Industrial Expertise

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the energy sector, creating new opportunities to improve system performance, optimise operations, and reduce carbon emissions. By combining HKUST (Guangzhou)'s research capabilities in AI and sustainable energy with TGPRO's expertise in commercial energy storage and industrial applications, the two organisations aim to bridge the gap between scientific research and real-world deployment.

The collaboration brings together advanced AI algorithms, digital twin technologies, and extensive industrial operating data to develop practical solutions that can be deployed across a wide range of industries.

Three Key Areas of Collaboration

The Energy AI Innovation Laboratory will focus on three strategic research areas.

AI-Driven Carbon Capture

The laboratory will develop intelligent carbon capture solutions by combining AI algorithms with advanced material databases and digital twin technology. The system will analyse operating conditions—including temperature, pressure, gas composition, and process characteristics—to optimise absorbent selection and improve capture efficiency while reducing operating costs.

Intelligent Energy Management

The partners will jointly develop AI-powered energy management platforms capable of optimising power generation, battery storage, and electricity consumption. By integrating renewable energy sources with intelligent forecasting and scheduling technologies, the platform will improve energy efficiency, maximise renewable energy utilisation, and enhance grid stability.

Pilot Demonstration and Commercial Deployment

To accelerate commercialisation, TGPRO and HKUST will establish pilot projects covering carbon capture, renewable energy integration, and intelligent energy management. These demonstration projects will validate new technologies under real industrial operating conditions, providing a clear pathway from laboratory research to large-scale commercial applications.

Accelerating the Energy Transition

The partnership is expected to support industries with high energy consumption and carbon emissions, including power generation, manufacturing, chemical processing, and marine applications. Through AI-enabled optimisation, businesses will be able to reduce operating costs, improve energy efficiency, and achieve their sustainability targets more effectively.

Beyond technology development, the collaboration will also cultivate interdisciplinary talent in artificial intelligence and energy engineering while promoting innovation across the clean energy sector.

Looking Ahead

As global demand for intelligent and sustainable energy solutions continues to grow, TGPRO New Energy remains committed to driving innovation through strategic partnerships and advanced technologies.

The establishment of the Energy AI Innovation Laboratory marks an important step towards integrating artificial intelligence with next-generation energy systems. Together, TGPRO New Energy and HKUST (Guangzhou) will continue developing practical, scalable solutions that support decarbonisation, improve energy efficiency, and contribute to a smarter, more sustainable energy future.
